The Vidhana Soudha is the seat of the Karnataka State Legislature and a symbol of democratic heritage. All participants are expected to conduct themselves with the utmost decorum and respect suitable for this esteemed institution. Participation signifies acceptance of these mandatory Terms and Conditions.

How do I book tickets?

Tickets can be booked online in advance through KSTDC or its authorized ticketing service providers. On-spot booking near Gate 3 is possible but strictly subject to availability. Online booking is recommended.

What details are needed for booking?

You MUST provide your full name (as per ID), contact details, and the Aadhaar number (for Indian Residents) or Passport number (for Foreign Nationals) for each participant aged 16+. Details for students (up to Class 10 / 15 years of age) claiming free entry are also needed.

This data will be shared with Government agencies for security verification as per applicable laws.

Do students get free entry?

Yes, students up to Class 10 / 15 years of age enter free BUT must be accompanied by a ticketed adult guardian (max 2 students per adult). They MUST present valid original ID (School ID along with Aadhaar / Passport) at entry.

When do online bookings close?

Subject to availability of tickets, online bookings typically close at the tour start time. On-spot booking depends entirely on slot availability at that moment.

What is the cancellation policy if I cancel my booking?

  • More than 24 hours before tour time: Full refund of the base ticket price, after deducting any non-refundable service charges/platform fees.
  • Within 24 hours of tour time up to start time of tour: 50% refund of the base ticket price, after deducting any non-refundable service charges/platform fees.
  • No refund for no-shows, late arrivals, or if entry is denied by security.

Is data collected during booking secure?

Yes, booking data is shared only with government agencies under law and not used for any other purpose.

What ID is MANDATORY for entry for EVERYONE?

  • Indian Residents (16 years and older): Original Aadhaar Card ONLY.
  • Foreign Nationals (16 years and older): Original Passport ONLY.
  • Students (Up to Class 10 / Age 15): Original School ID Card AND Original Aadhaar / Passport.

Crucially: Name and Number (Aadhaar/Passport) MUST match booking details. ORIGINAL documents are required (no digital/photocopies are accepted).

No correct original ID = No Entry.

Which gate is for entry and exit? Where should I report?

Entry is ONLY through Gate 3. You MUST report here at least 20 minutes before your scheduled tour time.

Exit after the tour is through Gate 4.

What happens if I am late? Can I join a tour that has already started?

Late arrival may lead to denial of entry as verification and security checks are mandatory and time-bound. Due to the Vidhana Soudha being a high-security area, it may not be possible to join a tour that has already commenced. No refunds are given for late arrivals or missed tours. Please be punctual.

What happens during the security check at Gate 3?

Expect mandatory verification of your booking against your original ID, physical frisking (pat-down), and screening of permitted bags/belongings by Vidhana Soudha security personnel. Full cooperation is required.

What if Vidhana Soudha security denies entry? Do I get a refund?

Vidhana Soudha Security personnel have the final and absolute authority on entry. NO REFUND will be provided if entry is denied by security for ANY reason (security concern, incorrect ID, prohibited item, late arrival, misconduct, etc.). You accept this condition by booking the tour.

Who is in charge during the tour? Whose instructions must I follow?

Each tour is led by a KSTDC Tour Guide and accompanied by a Tourist Mitra (Tourist Police) and Vidhana Soudha Security personnel. You MUST strictly follow all instructions given by the Guide, Mitra, and Security staff at all times.

What are the rules on behaviour and decorum?

The highest standards of decorum, silence, and discipline are mandatory. No loud noises, running, disturbances, or disrespectful behaviour. Adults are responsible for ensuring children adhere to these rules. Violators may be evicted without refund.

Can I explore on my own or leave the designated route?

Absolutely NOT. You must stay with your group and follow the guide precisely along the designated route. Deviation is a serious security violation, attracting an immediate fine of INR 2,000, eviction, and potential legal action.

Can I interact with officials?

Interaction with government officials or staff working within Vidhana Soudha is not part of the tour and should be avoided unless initiated by them in an official capacity related to the tour.

Is littering penalized? What about plastic?

Littering is strictly prohibited and attracts an immediate fine of INR 500. Use designated bins only. Single-use plastics are BANNED; do not bring them.

Can I eat, drink, or smoke during the tour?

Consumption of food, beverages (except water in your own reusable non-plastic bottle), tobacco, alcohol, gum, etc., is strictly prohibited inside buildings and on the tour path. Smoking is forbidden.

How long is the visit? What if I stay longer?

The entire visit (entry checks, tour, exit) should take approximately 90 minutes. Loitering after the tour is strictly prohibited and may lead to fines, eviction, and further action by security. Proceed to Gate 4 for exit promptly after the tour concludes.

Can I take photos and videos?

Generally yes, with mobile phones or small handheld cameras for personal use at designated spots / times.

Large cameras/lenses, tripods, drones, etc., are likely prohibited (security discretion is final). Flash may be restricted.

Do not photograph security personnel or restricted areas. The Vidhana Soudha security has the right to check your phone / camera and delete any unauthorised photos.

What are the consequences of breaking rules?

Violations can lead to warnings, immediate fines (INR 500 for littering, INR 2,000 for route deviation), eviction without refund, and potentially legal action by authorities depending on the severity.

What bags can I bring? Is there storage?

Only small bags/purses (approx. 18×12 inches or less) are allowed after security screening. No large luggage or strollers allowed inside. You can use the Vidhana Soudha Metro Station cloakroom (nearby, outside security) at your own risk and cost.

Is the tour accessible for wheelchairs or people with mobility issues?

The tour involves significant walking and climbing stairs within a heritage building. Accessibility is limited. Lifts/ramps may not cover the entire route. Please contact KSTDC before booking to discuss specific mobility needs and limitations.

Are there baby changing rooms or facilities for infants? Are strollers allowed?

There are no dedicated baby care facilities. Strollers are not permitted. Plan accordingly if visiting with infants.

Are washrooms available during the tour?

Limited washroom facilities designated for visitors may be available along the route. Use only these as directed by the guide.

Is Wi-Fi available for visitors?

No, public Wi-Fi access is not available for tour participants within the Vidhana Soudha premises.

What is the language of the tours?

The tours are conducted in English and Kannada. The language for the tour shall be informed on the KSTDC website at the time of booking.

Many of the guides are multilingual and may provide information in other languages during the tour based on their abilities.

Is first aid available?

Basic first aid may be accessible available at the KSTDC Help Desk in case of minor incidents, but comprehensive medical facilities are not available directly on the tour route. Participants with known medical conditions should carry their necessary medication. Report any health emergencies immediately to the tour staff.

Is parking available?

No dedicated parking is provided for tour participants. Using public transport (Metro – Vidhana Soudha station, Bus) is highly recommended.

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

While there isn’t a strict formal dress code specified, Vidhana Soudha is a functioning government building demanding respect. Visitors should wear modest, comfortable clothing suitable for walking and appropriate for a public governmental institution. Avoid clothing with potentially offensive slogans or imagery. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended.

Is the tour suitable for elderly participants or those with health conditions?

The tour involves significant walking (potentially around 1.5 km) and climbing stairs. Participants should be in reasonably good health. If you have health conditions that might be affected by moderate physical activity or difficulty with stairs, please carefully consider your participation or contact KSTDC beforehand to understand the physical demands better.

What happens if it rains during the tour time?

The tour primarily takes place partly indoors and partly outdoors within the Vidhana Soudha complex. However, movement between Gate 3 (Entry), the building entrance, and Gate 4 (Exit) is outdoors. Tours generally proceed as scheduled even during rain with more time being spent at the points of interest located indoors. Participants are advised to carry an umbrella or raincoat if rain is expected, as shelter may not be available for the entire outdoor portion. KSTDC cancellations due to extreme weather would be communicated if necessary.

Can I bring water or snacks?

You MAY bring drinking water ONLY in your own reusable bottle. Single-use plastic is BANNED. Consumption of ALL food items, snacks, chewing gum, and beverages other than water is strictly prohibited inside the premises except for in designated areas.

Are there specific items I absolutely CANNOT bring?

Yes. Besides the prohibited items mentioned elsewhere (large bags, single-use plastics, food/drink, tobacco/alcohol, pets), weapons of any kind, sharp objects, flammable materials (like lighters/matchboxes), tools, large electronic devices (beyond phones/small cameras), and items for protest (banners, placards) are strictly prohibited. Security has the final say on any item. Travel light and avoid bringing non-essential items.

Is there any Lost and Found?

Please contact Tour Guides and Tourist Mitra  or KSTDC Helpdesk and the venue for any lost and found support. Please note that due to the security restrictions at Vidhana Soudha, generally any unidentified items within the premises shall be disposed.

The KSTDC Helpdesk at Vidhana Soudha may be able to help if lost items are reported on the same day.
